A Dhaka court today issued an arrest warrant for actress Pori Moni after charges were framed against her in a case filed by former Uttara Club Limited president Nasir U Mahmud. The charges include assault, vandalism, attempted murder, and issuing threats. The court also rejected her petition requesting an extension for her absence and proceeded with framing the charges in her absence. Another accused, Junayed Karim Jimmy, also faced an arrest warrant in the case. In June 2021, Pori Moni filed a case against Nasir and two others, accusing them of rape and attempted murder, related to an incident that occurred on June 9, 2021. Nasir later filed a counter-case, claiming that Pori and her associates visited Dhaka Boat Club, got intoxicated, and used threats to avoid paying for their alcohol. Nasir alleged that Pori Moni attempted to seduce him and then physically assaulted him when he denied her request for a free liquor bottle, which included throwing objects at him. Pori Moni and two others are also facing charges under the Narcotics Control Act, with that case currently pending in the Special Judge Court-10 of Dhaka.
